About me…

I’ve created this app as just another runner trying to create a useful tool in the form of a mobile app for other runners…

Having a similar story to “a lot” of other runners in that almost 6 years ago as a mum of 3, I found myself sitting in the chair in front of the doctor at almost 70kg with high blood pressure and high cholesterol (I’m only 5 foot 3 or 155cm).  In return I got a huge reprimand on the fact that at 42 years of age,  if I didn’t lose weight and give up smoking I would never see any of my grandchildren.  Needless to say I had my last cigarette on August 1, 2011.  A hysterectomy followed and life has never been the same again.

I started walking to lose weight and when that became boring I slowly closed the gap from walking to running, and became totally addicted to running… An important chapter of this part of my life included losing that extra 17kg when I signed up for the Michelle Bridges 12wbt program which gave me a better understanding about food, exercise, the importance of a positive mindset as well enabling me to connect with some truly special people.

The health benefits from running are almost endless and as a sufferer of depression and anxiety related issues, I’ve found it is my most effective tool in dealing with the mind games and emotions of everyday life.

Most recently, I began a love affair with trail running, Ultras and all the adventures and friendships that come hand in hand with the running community at large.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have enjoyed running in some pretty awesome locations.  The Blue Mountains in the North Face 50 (now better known as UTA 50),  the Simpson Desert with the Big Red Run in 2016 raising funds for Type 1 Diabetes research, the Hume and Hovell Ultra 100km and in Tasmania at the first ever Gone Nuts 101 Adventure Run over 50km – all of which are most definitely stand-out events!

I’ve been fiddling around with learning about all things to do with the development and promotion of the app for the past 12 months and.  During the past 2 months while on forced rest, I’ve really immersed myself in getting this show on the road.  Many thanks to being inspired by some truly wonderful, like-minded individuals that I’m so lucky to have in my life – it’s finally starting to take shape.

I truly believe the iRunEvents app can be a really useful tool not only in finding events but helping people connect in so many ways.

If you’ve made it to this point, let’s hope you’ve already downloaded the app where you can find and plan your next running adventure.

Simply click on the event to find a link that will take you to the event website, location, directions and more.

You can also save the event straight to your calender with a simple tap on your screen.

Event photos can be shared as well as links to our social media websites like facebook and instagram.

The possibilities are infinite… happy running!
